Floris Hovers’ Stoklamp is a harmonious blend of three distinct components: steel base, wooden shaft, and fabric shade. Unlike many other standing lamps, the Stoklamp refuses to hide the electric cord. Instead, the cord is fully visible, becoming a line that connects shade, shaft, and base – a line that is the lamp’s defining feature.
“Honesty and clarity” are the guiding principles for Floris Hovers, winner of the prestigious Sanoma award. By this Hovers means bringing a depth of understanding to materials and construction. He comes by this ethos naturally: his grandfather operated a concrete factory. After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven and working for designer Piet Hein Eek, Hovers opened his own studio in his grandfather's former factory.
Stoklamp’s electric cord is embedded in a groove running along the length of the shaft.
