In-house production
We prefer to work locally. This keeps us very flexible and is better for the environment. We are extremely proud that we manufacture half of our products in-house. A close-knit team of enthusiastic craftspeople work in our own factory in Goirle, making coat racks and entrance hall accessories. Above all, they can repair damaged products and give them a second life. Our suppliers are located near to us too: 80% are within a 100km radius.
Materials & certificates
Since our family firm was established in 1972 we have had a preference for honest, sustainable materials. We have a soft spot for powder-coated steel and aluminium. Robust materials that last a long time and are simple to recycle. In addition to this, we are an FSC certified company.
We have also bundled our strengths with Circulair IQ in our contribution towards the transition to a circular economy. Thanks to the Circulair IQ product passports, everyone can see where our products are manufactured. This allows us to stimulate the use of recyclable and renewable materials.
Sustainable design
For the design of our products we join forces with top designers from around Europe. Designers who love making things, just as we do. The result: functional, well-thought out and sustainable products. Always reduced to the essence and almost indestructible. Many of the coat racks and coat hangers that we sold decades ago, are still in service. Over the last 50 years we have manufactured more than 7.5 million coat racks and 7 million coat hangers. That means that more than 800 million people have at one time or another hung their coat on a Functionals coat rack. And are still doing so. Pretty impressive, hey?
We do not follow fleeting trends, but strive for timeless designs that last a lifetime. That is why we also provide a 25-year guarantee on our products. This reflects our commitment to quality, sustainability, and confidence in the long lifespan of what we create. A number of designs have even been awarded illustrious prizes like the iF Product Design Award and a German Design Award. And with one of our latest products – the waste sorting bin Ditch – we help offices and public spaces throughout Europe to separate refuse. Above all, Ditch is completely recyclable and equipped with internal bins made from recycled plastic.
