wendela chairby christoph seyferth

Christoph Seyferth’s compact, lightweight Wendela chair gorgeously unites materials and manufacturing techniques of different eras. The beech seat is created from a mold originally produced in the 1950s. It sits upon a contemporary aluminium base. Meanwhile, the visible connection between the seat and base references joinery used by carpenters for centuries.

craftsmanship

designers

Christoph Seyferth eschews the belief that good design must come from big egos. His products are humane and functional, designed for everyday use. Seyferth’s diverse background spans fine arts, carpentry, architecture, and interior design, as well as furniture design. He has done everything from build his own house to design eyewear for Adidas. Seyferth’s work has a certain timeless quality, referencing the integrity of thoughtful craftsmanship and celebrating the essence of pure materials like wood, leather, and steel.

“I don’t design practical stuff to be beautiful. Elegant design is natural and unpretentious, something that feels right without shouting for attention.”

Christoph Seyferth
